Every single-family property is required to have two off-street parking stalls, whether the property has an ADU or not. If you add an ADU to the property, additional stalls beyond this base requirement are needed. Any added parking area must meet all city standards, including but not limited to the standards for driveway approaches.
The additional stall requirement varies between an internal ADU and a detached ADU.
- Internal ADU parking requirements
- One additional stall (two stalls required for every single-family home plus one extra stall for internal ADU)
- Stacked or "tandem-style" parking stalls cannot count toward the number of parking stalls required
- Detached ADU parking requirements
- Two additional stalls (two stalls required for every single-family home plus two extra stalls for detached ADU)
- Stacked or "tandem-style" parking stalls cannot count toward the number of parking stalls required
- Parking stalls cannot be in the front yard
