The finance department:

  • Promotes, secures, and preserves the city's financial and property interests
  • Supervises financial activities
  • Advises the city manager on fiscal policy
  • Creates interim and annual financial reports
  • Prepares the annual budget and comprehensive annual financial reports (CAFR), which independent auditors review
  • Monitors monthly revenues and expenditures and prepares city council reports
  • Processes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll 
  • Balances government funds as required by Utah Code section 10-6-117
