Right of Way Permit

All work done in the City right of way requires a permit and must be inspected. Follow these steps to get a permit:

  1. Have the following documents ready to upload:
    • Scope of work, site plans, or engineering plans
    • Traffic control plans
    • Certificate of liability insurance (only 50/50 program typically needs this)
    • Any other forms with other project information
  2. Complete the online form above and upload all needed documents.
  3. Contact the Public Works Right-of-Way Permit Manager to determine payment requirements in accordance with the approved fee schedule.
  4. Pay the permit fee in-person at Cottonwood Heights City Hall or by calling 801-944-7000.
  5. Click the Search permit status button above to see the status and review your permit. City staff will review it within 48 hours after your payment.
  6. Call 801-944-7019 to activate the permit at least 24 business hours before starting, or the city will fine you $200.
