Project Safeguard

Project Safeguard is a community and Cottonwood Heights Police Department partnership that ensures safety for those with autism or other mental illnesses in a crisis. The online roster gives police quick access names, birthdays, physical descriptions, emergency contact information, and known triggers and behaviors.

Registering for Project Safeguard

An adult family member or guardian of a person with autism can complete the form at the bottom of the page. Once registered and verified, a team member will put the information in the dispatch system. Officers responding on calls or interacting with a person who has autism can then access this information. When possible, police will send a crisis intervention team (CIT) officer.

Update and submit information each year to ensure it's accurate. If you don't update it, the file will be marked "inactive" until police have current information.
