Space for a future park has been reserved in this location since Canyon Centre was designed, reviewed, and approved in 2013. Providing space for this future park was a requirement within the development agreement signed by the developer and the city, with additional requirements for the developer to do basic improvements to the site to prepare the area for a future park, including utility stubbing and grading. 

We are not at a construction phase yet. The park will be funded through tax-increment financing, meaning that tax revenue from the businesses in Canyon Centre will accrue and provide funding for this amenity. Enough funding has accrued to begin the conceptual design phase, but not enough to begin construction. Additionally, ownership of the park parcel has not yet been transferred from the developer to the city, though this is required to take place in the future.

No! The park is a separate parcel from the Marriott Hotel property, and will be publicly owned. Though the location is very near the hotel's entrance, use of the park will not be limited to hotel guests.
