Feedback about Parks, Trails, and Open Space:
- Some respondents indicated a desire for more open space in the city, including the following:
- Preserving the rear Memorial Estates property as open space
- Preserving the Dover Hill property as open space
- Restoring the Old Mill property as open space
- Using riparian setbacks to preserve unbuilt property near waterways
- Some respondents indicated a desire for enhanced trail systems in the city, including the following:
- Including unpaved and paved trails
- Creating creek-side trails along Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Creeks, as well as an extended trail along the East Jordan Canal
- Installing outdoor lighting along the Big Cottonwood Trail for increased nighttime visibility
- Connecting Big Cottonwood Trail to more neighborhood access points
- Constructing additional neighborhood byway trails like the Big Cottonwood Trail
- Constructing trails through commercial areas, such as the Union Park area
- Some respondents indicated a desire to see changes made to the Ferguson Canyon area, including the following:
- Including more parking for canyon users (Staff note: This will be provided as part of the Ferguson Park construction process, estimated to be completed in 2023)
- Replacing the amphitheater with an updated amenity
- Some respondents indicated a desire for changes to city parks and recreation offerings, including:
- Constructing more programmed parks, such as Mountview Park
- Adding more amenities to existing parks, like a pump track and soccer field at Crestwood Park
- Installing additional lighting at the Guthrie Skate Park
