The Recorders Office supports the fulfillment of local and state statutory duties for Cottonwood Heights and serves to provide these services in a manner that is efficient, fair and courteous.

The City Recorder, under the direction of the Deputy City Manager, is a statutory position appointed by the city manager with consent of the city council. 

The City Recorder’s office ensures compliance with state and local statues including the Open and Public Meeting Act and the Government Records Access Management Act (GRAMA).  The office also administers democratic processes such as elections, access to city records and all legislative actions ensuring transparency to the public.

Responsibilities                               

-City Council Support

Prepares agendas, records all meetings, as well as prepare and retain official city meeting minutes.

Records and Archives Management

Keeps and maintains the official papers and records of Cottonwood Heights including all City Council actions, all ordinances and resolutions, contracts, minutes, and the municipal code.  All records are handled in accordance with the Government Records Access Management Act (GRAMA).

Public Noticing

Prepares, posts, and publishes all legal notices as required by law.

Elections

Supervises and coordinates all municipal elections in accordance with state and city statutory requirements.

Prepares agendas, records all meetings, as well as prepare and retain official city meeting minutes.

Additional Duties

Countersigns all contracts made on behalf of the city - custodian of the official seal of the city - attends the opening of all sealed bids
