Everyone loves a parade, and just about everyone loved Cottonwood Heights' parade float that mimicked a late 1800s steam locomotive.

The float, conceived by city staff and designed by Russ Wimmer of Creative Concepts and Display garnered several awards over the summer, including the Herriman Days Queen’s Award, the Sandy City Mayor’s Award and the coveted Governor’s Award for the Days of ’47 Parade held on Pioneer Day.

The float featured authentic sound effects (whistle, engine), moving wheels, a real bell and a billowing steam/smoke effect that thrilled audiences, young and old.
