Budget & Financial Reporting

The Finance department is responsible for sound fiscal procedures and efficient functioning of the City’s financial activities.  This process starts with annual long term planning and goals by the City Council and each department.  The Finance department assists the City Manager and Mayor in preparing the annual budget for presentation and final adoption prior to the start of the new fiscal year.

Each year revenues and expenditures are reviewed and each line item is examined to determine future needs of the City.  The city budget is prepared after careful contemplation of all predictable and unpredictable factors.  Governmental funds are balanced as required by Utah Code Section 10-6-117.

Throughout the year, the Finance department carefully monitors actual transactions and prepares monthly reports for the City Council.  With accurate records of all financial transactions, the Finance department closes the Fiscal Year and prepares the annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Statements which are audited by independent auditors.
