Ten-year-old Lundyn Van der Toolen was named the 2016 International Junior Olympic Gymnast of the Year by International Gymnast Magazine during an awards banquet in Las Vegas on Feb. 11. Lundyn was chosen out 45 nominees from around the country, and was the first to be nominated out of Utah.
Lundyn is currently a level 9 gymnast and is on the track for elite status, which is a traditional path to the Olympic level national team. 2016 Olympic star Simone Biles was once a recipient of the same honor.
Lundyn’s family has lived in Cottonwood Heights for the past 19 years. Congratulations, Lundyn!
