Tingey Appointed as New City Manager

On Sept. 25, the Cottonwood Heights City Council approved the appointment of Tim Tingey as city manager. Tingey succeeds John Park, who retired earlier in the month after serving nearly five years as city manager.

Tingey has worked for over twenty years in government and public administration most recently serving as Director of the Administrative and Development Services for Murray City Corporation where he oversaw seven divisions for the City. He also served as the Executive Director for the Redevelopment Agency of Murray and led economic development efforts for the City. He previously worked for the City of Pocatello for eleven years.

Tingey began his tenure on at Cottonwood Heights on Oct. 15, 2018.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to work in such a great community," said Tingey. " I also look forward to working with Mayor Peterson, the City Council, and the excellent staff of the city."

Tingey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business (Management/Human Resources) from Utah State University and has a Masters of Public Administration and Doctorate in Political Science from Idaho State University. He has also worked as an adjunct faculty member for The University of Utah, teaching courses in public administration and political science.

He currently serves as a board member for NeighborWorks of Salt Lake.  He previously served as Vice President for the Northwest Association of Community Development Managers and as a board member for the Idaho Community Reinvestment Corporation.

He and his wife Gail have four children, two daughters, and two sons.
